1. Open Meeting

1.1. Roll Call
Angie Clifford had an excused absence.

1.2. Recognize the Open Meetings Act information

1.3. Oath of Office
The members took the Oath of office and gave Superintendent Meyerle a signed copy.

1.4. Approve minutes of last meeting

Motion to approve minutes of last meeting Passed with a motion by Adam Engelman and a second by Dusty Duis.

1.5. Reorganization of Board

1.5.1. Election of Officers

Motion to retain offices of Paul Kostal President, Toni Landenberger Vice President, and Angie Clifford as Treasurer. Passed with a motion by Adam Engelman and a second by Kolin Kotas.

Motion to approve standing committee appointments Passed with a motion by Toni Landenberger and a second by Adam Engelman.

1.5.3. Selection of Official Newspaper, Legal Counsel, Repository, Attendance Officer and Federal Programs Director.

Motion to approve the Fairbury Journal News as the official newspaper, KSB as legal counsel, the State Bank of Odell as the official repository, and name Superintendent Meyerle as Attendance Officer and Federal Programs Director. Passed with a motion by Dusty Duis and a second by Toni Landenberger.

2. Instruction and Related Items
Superintendent Meyerle noted that Mrs. Becker would be working on the 2022-23 class schedule, and asked the Board to submit any questions they may have.  Mrs. Becker would attend the February Board meeting if needed.

Superintendent Meyerle discussed admitting military Veterans in athletic events free of charge as some other schools are doing.  Diller-Odell Public Schools will plan to do so effective immediately.

2.1. Student Report
Preston Engelman gave a report on recent student activities.

2.2. Principal Report
Principal Mezger reported on attendance numbers, and the recent CRDC report that is being compiled.  He also reported on the Nebraska Education Profile or AQUESTT rating for Diller-Odell.  The districts' rating was Excellent for the 2020-2021 school year.

 

3. Personnel Items
Superintendent Meyerle reported that Dallas Stohs had his last day of work on January 10 as custodian at the high school.  Mr. Stohs has retired.  The Board and Administration thanks him for his 27 years of dedicated service and wishes him well in retirement.  Keith Craig has taken on the duties at both the elementary and high school of general maintenance which includes dealing with repairs, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, gutter and roof issues.

3.1. Review Substitute teacher pay and take possible action

Motion to approve an increase in substitute pay to $150 a day. Passed with a motion by Adam Engelman and a second by Toni Landenberger.

The increase will keep Diller-Odell Public Schools competitive with neighboring schools, and will be effective for pay received in February 2022.  Superintendent Meyerle reported that the pay would then remain at $150 a day for the 2022-2023 school year.

Superintendent Meyerle reported on meetings with ALICAP adjusters on some wind damage.  He also outlined upcoming summer projects that would be very minimal as carpet, window, and major projects have been completed.

5. Superintendent Items

5.1. Superintendent Report
Superintendent Meyerle had distributed 2021-2022 administrative pay information from the school's array.  He requested that the Board set the salaries for he and Principal Mezger at the February meeting.

He also reported that the 2020-2021 Annual report is on the school website.

President Kostal adjourned the meeting 7:42pm.  The next regular meeting is scheduled for February 14, 2022 at 7:00pm at the elementary school in Diller.
