Mr. John Mohr
Hi, my name is John Mohr. I’ve now begun my 26th year teaching at Diller-Odell. As the old saying goes…time flies when you’re having fun! I have been formally teaching in Nebraska since the Fall of 1997, and came to Diller-Odell in 2000 (the 1st year that the two communities consolidated school districts). I became a teacher because I had great role models who were educators when I was growing up in Ponca, NE. I continue to teach because I really enjoy interacting with young people and being a positive role model. Being able to share life’s experiences with students is rewarding. Currently, I teach a variety of Social Studies/History classes, along with a Strength Training class. Additionally, I am in my 21st year as head coach for Girls High School Basketball. I also coach both Junior High Football and Junior High Girls Basketball. Over the past 26 years at D-O I’ve also helped coach High School Football, High School Boys Basketball & High School Track. I’ve helped-out with other school organizations & activities as well, including being the Sponsor for the Class of 2006. I have been married to my wife Tricia since 1994. We have two adult children. Peyton, a graduate of Doane University, works in the banking field, and Paxton, a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, is a school teacher. Over the years attending or participating in our boys’ activities occupied much of our family’s time! Nowadays, any activity I can do with my family is how I like to spend my free hours. I dabble in collecting sports memorabilia, and enjoy fishing & golfing when I can (even though I need improvement in both areas). A favorite quote of mine is by Ralph Waldo Emerson --- “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”
