5.1. Superintendent Report
Superintendent Meyerle and the Board discussed the topic of playing 6-man football vs. 8-man football.  The comments to the Board from patrons prior to the meeting was overwhelmingly to continue to play 8-man football.  The Board accepted comment from Jason Arnold, who commented that he and the majority of the current team would like to switch to 6-man football.  The team would be ineligible for the playoffs in 6-man.  The patrons who had spoke to the Board, some of the Board and  Administration did not like the message that would send.

There was also discussion that there was no guarantee that we would be more competitive in 6-man football and that current numbers supported playing 8-man.  Over twenty players are expected to participate next fall.  The Administration will report to the NSAA that Diller-Odell will continue to play 8 man football.

On the topic of JH football, there is a concern over starting next season with ten boys on the team.  Superintendent Meyerle noted that a coop in JH football may be possible with Southern, who is not expecting a lot of boys out either.  Superintendent Meyerle will contact Dr. Prososki at Southern and see if an agreement could be reached for JH football.  Diller-Odell Public Schools has no desire to coop HS football, but a JH coop would provide a much better football experience with approximately 20 boys on the team.
