The absences of Adam Engelman and Stu Vitosh were excused.

1.4. Accept public comment on Americanism
No comment was received.  Superintendent Meyerle noted how certain days are recognized at school per LB 399 such as: George Washington's birthday, Abraham Lincoln's birthday, Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday, Native American Heritage Day, Constitution Day, Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving Day.  Wall art has also been put up in the hallways that depicts American and Nebraskan heritage.  He also noted that grades 8 and 12 take an Americanism test each year.  Superintendent Meyerle shared the test with the Board to take.

2. Financial Items

2.1. 2026-2027 Budget overview
Superintendent Meyerle gave the Board his budget recommendations for 2026-2027.  He expects to increase the General Fund levy from 0.496191 to 0.501410, and to decrease the Special Building levy from 0.057920 to 0.047864.  The overall levy will decrease by 0.004837.  The district's overall tax request increase will be minimal at $102,523.  Salaries and benefits for the staff will be increasing by approximately $182,000.  Final numbers will be set at the September Board meeting.

Motion to approve bills as presented. Passed with a motion by Kasey Murphy and a second by Josh Carpenter.

Superintendent Meyerle provided the Board with a current list of school vehicles and mileage.

President Clifford adjourned the meeting at 7:23pm. 

The next Regular Board meeting is scheduled for 7:00pm or at the conclusion of the annual budget hearing and tax request hearings on September 16, 2026 at the Elementary Media Center in Diller.  The 2026-2027 Budget Hearing is scheduled for 6:30 pm and the tax request hearing at 6:45pm or at the conclusion of the budget hearing.  The Board of Education will usually adhere to the sequence of the published agenda, but reserves the right to adjust the order of items if necessary and may elect to amend the agenda as deemed necessary.
