Diller-Odell Welcomes New Teachers for the 2020-2021 School Year
Emmie Noyd-Third Grade
My name is Emmie Noyd. I was born and raised in Shelby, NE. I loved being brought up in a small-town community and I look forward to being a part of yours. I earned my Bachelor of Early Childhood Inclusive Education from Concordia University in Seward, NE. During my time at Concordia, I was also a part of the volleyball team and those experiences with that program has helped shaped me into who I am today. I am honored to be given the opportunity to teach third grade at Diller- Odell Public Schools, this coming school year. I am looking forward to making the connections with my students and families. I will also be taking on the assistant volleyball coach position. I am so excited to have the opportunity to share my love for the game and help this program to continue its success. My family is one of the most important things in my life. I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, camping, playing sports, and reading. I am proud to become a Diller- Odell Griffin!
Deena Day-Secondary Math
Hello! My name is Deena Day and I will be the new Math Teacher at Diller-Odell High School! I earned my Bachelor's Degree from UNK, and my Master's Degree from Peru State College. I started my career at Lewiston High School, where I taught grades 8-12 and was assistant GBB and track coach for 7 years. I then moved to southeast Kansas; teaching and coaching volleyball and softball at Allen Community College and Fort Scott Community College. Although I enjoyed teaching at the college level, I prefer the junior high/high school level. The rapport and relationships that are developed not only with the students, but also with their families and the community, cannot be compared. For that reason, I accepted a teaching position at Iola High School. I stayed there for 14 years, teaching various math courses for grades 9-12, and also coaching volleyball. In 2014, after my 3 children Misty, Mindy and Tyler all graduated and were busy with their careers and families, I decided to move back home, to Odell. Since then, I have been substitute teaching at DOHS and a few surrounding schools. I am living on the farm I grew up on, enjoying being back home and am truly excited about teaching at the school I graduated from!!!
GO GRIFFS!!!!!
Brooke Frederick-K-12 Art Teacher
Hello all! My name is Brooke Frederick and I am very excited to be Diller Odell's new K-12 Art Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. I recently received my Bachelors Degree at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I grew up in Kearney and am excited to make the move to a smaller community.
I will be getting married next summer to my fiancé Taylon and have a puppy named Belly. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, helping on Taylon's family ranch, making art, whether that's drawings or paintings, and photography.
I am very thankful for this teaching position and am excited to meet all of the teachers, students, and community.
Ashtyn Cooper-Media Specialist
I grew up in Elmwood, NE attending Elmwood-Murdock Public Schools, a district only slightly larger than Diller-Odell. While at Elmwood-Murdock I had a wonderful school librarian who inspired me to become one myself. I am in the process of finishing my Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education from University of Nebraska at Omaha with an endorsement in K-12 School Library. This will enable me to be your new school librarian in August of 2020!
When I have time to myself I enjoy reading books of all kinds. My all time favorite children’s book is Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, but I am constantly looking for new favorites to add to my list. I also enjoy taking walks with my dog, Lucy, spending time with my friends and family, and exploring new places.
I am looking forward to getting the chance to explore the Diller-Odell community and meet all my fellow staff members and students in the coming years. Go Griffins!
