Diller-Odell Adopts New Reading Curriculum

    Dear Families,

We’re excited to share that beginning this school year, we have adopted new, research-based reading curriculum to strengthen literacy instruction across all grade levels:

Grades Pre-K–5 will use CKLA (Core Knowledge Language Arts) 3rd Edition. CKLA is a comprehensive program that supports students in building strong foundational reading skills and growing their knowledge through rich content in science, history, and literature. CKLA aligns with the Nebraska State Standards and emphasizes vocabulary development, background knowledge, and reading comprehension.

Grades 6–8 will use Amplify ELA. Amplify ELA is a rigorous and engaging curriculum designed to deepen students' reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. Amplify ELA encourages close reading of complex texts and provides meaningful opportunities for discussion, analysis, and writing across genres.

These programs were carefully selected based on their alignment with state standards, strong support for student achievement, and ability to meet the needs of all learners through Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). Teachers have received training on the new materials and are eager to begin using them with students this fall.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or to the school office.

Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff. We are looking forward to a great year of learning!

Sincerely,

Diller-Odell Administrative Team
