Diller-Odell MTSS
Over the past year, the staff at DIller-Odell has adopted a new framework to implement into our teaching practices. This new framework is called a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). In Nebraska, MTSS is defined as an educational framework for continuous improvement, problem-solving, and decision-making. It offers a meaningful and effective way to organize instruction and intervention to help improve outcomes for all students in the state.
Key Elements:
-
● A school-wide approach to student support, with teachers, counselors, psychologists, and other specialists working as a team to assess students and plan interventions.
-
● Promotes an integrated system of general education and special education
-
● Provides early intervention for students who need support to reach their academic or behavioral goals
-
● Integrated plans that address students’ academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs
-
● Use of evidence-based strategies
-
● Frequent monitoring of students’ progress to help determine if more interventions are needed
-
● Family involvement so parents and caregivers can understand the interventions and provide support at home
