1. Open Meeting

Jill Scheele arrived at 7:34pm.

2.1. Principal Report

Principal Mezger reported on the first day with staff and procedures that are in place for the beginning of school.

Superintendent Meyerle noted that the district welcomed five new teachers today.

Superintendent Meyerle noted the supplies of sanitizer, disinfectant, and masks that had been distributed to teachers and bus drivers.  He noted that much of the safety protocols around combating COVID-19  would come down to sanitizing, washing hands, disinfecting, distancing as much as possible, wearing masks and staying home when sick.

He is very proud of the efforts to get school open this fall, and notes that the staff will do its best.

Under current indoor venue restrictions (50%), the capacity of spectators at volleyball will be 516 people.  Football capacity (75%) will be 1500 spectators.  The football field will utilize all standing room around the field as well as the hill on the west side of the field.  Social distancing will be utilized and all fans will be encouraged to wear a mask for the good of our students and activities.

5.1. Superintendent Report

Superintendent Meyerle gave an update on budget projections.  There will be a budget planning meeting on August 26 where he can give updated details once valuations are final.

7. Board of Education Items

7.1. Committee Reports

The Board recognized a plaque provided by Casper's Construction for work done on the construction of the new high school gym and offices.  Casper's was awarded First Place for the 2019 Building of the Year by Behlen Building Systems for a Recreational/Sports Facility.  The project was the result of many hours of work by Board committees, and the Board is very proud of the results.  Superintendent Meyerle and the Board thanks Casper's Construction for their work as well as Sampson Construction and Wilken's Architecture.

Motion to approve membership in NRCSA Passed with a motion by Adam Engelman and a second by Gary Stohs.

Superintendent Meyerle noted the work that NRCSA had done regarding the re-opening of schools in Nebraska and gave special thanks to Mr. Jack Moles for his efforts.

8. Adjournment

President Kostal adjourned the meeting at 8:08pm.  The Board will have a special meeting on budget planning and Americanism on August 26 at 7:00pm at the elementary school.

The next regular Board meeting is scheduled for September 14, 2020 at the high school.  The 2020-21 Budget Hearing and Tax Request Hearing are scheduled  for September 14. Times for the September hearings and meeting are TBA due to the MUDECAS volleyball tournament as Diller-Odell is a host on the "A" bracket  The Board of Education will usually adhere to the sequence of the published agenda, but reserves the right to adjust the order of items if necessary and may elect to amend the agenda as deemed necessary.
