Toni Landenberger was absent for roll call, but arrived at the meeting at 7:42pm.

2.1. Student Report

2.2. Principal Report

 

Principal Mezger gave an update on instruction during the school shut down. He noted he was very pleased with the effort of both students and staff and how they have engaged in the necessary changes brought upon them.

 

The Board discussed graduation.  Due to the directed health measure by the Governor, graduation will not be held on May 16. The Board will discuss the topic at the May meeting, with the hope that the traditional ceremony can be held in either June or July.

 

Prom was also discussed. Graduation is given first priority, but Prom is something that we hopefully can schedule in July.

4.1. Technology Update

 

The Board would like to give a special thanks to Diode Communications for making internet available free of charge to area families thru June 1, 2020 to new customers.

 

4.2. Facility Update

 

Superintendent Meyerle noted some summer facility projects that consist of: painting the outside of the old HS gym on the south side, two rooms of carpet replacement, and some window replacement in the older part of the elementary building.

5.1. Superintendent Report

 

Superintendent Meyerle noted that the budget was consistent with the past years at this point in the fiscal year.

 

The Board discussed an email from Senator Mike Groene. Superintendent Meyerle noted that the members of the Board of Education of Diller-Odell Public Schools know more about the needs of the school district more than state senators.

The Board thanks the staff of Diller-Odell Public Schools for their efforts during this shutdown of the school. They recognize that the staff is doing a good job of continuing to educate our students while they cannot be in the buildings.
