Diller-Odell Third Grade Students Become Published Authors

Publishing Party and Book Viewing Planned

Diller, Ne – Diller-Odell Elementary has announced that 14 of its students have become published authors through a national student publishing program. As part of the publishing process, students in third grade planned, wrote, and illustrated their own books through a free publishing program with Studentreasures Publishing. The title of their book is Mix it Up: Traditional Recipes.

The students of Mrs. Heble’s class have been working hard on their books for 4 weeks. The idea for their book started when they observed a fellow teacher’s past third grade project over international recipes.

“This book project has been such a fun experience for the third graders and the family members that kindly helped during the interview phase. We also enjoyed getting the chance for each student to make their family recipe and bring to the class to show-and-share with their peers.”

We’re rolling out the red carpet for our student authors and you’re invited to take a peek! A publishing party will “tentatively” be held May 15, 2026 to celebrate the students’ accomplishment and view their published books. We are celebrating with a “Rolls with Parents,” red-carpet event, and a book signing for parents who can attend.
