Coming to an End

As the school year winds down, I find myself reflecting over the last 42 years! (Yes, I started teaching when I was 10, haha).

My teaching styles may have changed throughout the years, but my expectations have not. I expect students to do their own work, ask questions if they need to in order to learn the material, but most importantly..... try their best.  Effort goes a long way. Students know and respect my expectations. Every teacher is different, but it doesn't take students long to figure each one of us out. I love it when my students walk into my room, put their phones in the basket, sit down, and get to work. It is awesome.... they just know!!  All of these things are actually "life lessons": Be on time, know what is expected of you and do it, and most importantly, be respectful. Thank you, students. You're the best!!! I will miss being your teacher and seeing you every day.

I've included a few pictures of things that are also coming to an end:

•My door decoration. It just brightens the hallway and helps put a smile on faces as they enter my room.

•My yearly countdown. "Everyone" counts down to the end of the school year, but I also count down to the beginning of the next school year. This one always makes ME laugh when students walk in and groan..."Really, Ms. Day"? hahaha "Yep...really!!"

•And lastly, my Happy Grams. I'd like to think parents AND students enjoyed getting my happy grams. Regardless, I truly enjoyed writing them and sending out good news.

I hope everyone has a great summer. I'm sure I will see most of you throughout summer and next fall as a substitute teacher.

Thank you for the opportunity to teach your child(ren). I truly enjoyed it.
