Freshman in Physical Science
The freshman physical science class recently learned how energy is related to changes in state. Along with learning how to use Bunsen burners, they charted the temperature of water through the boiling of water and graphed their results. They discovered that energy added to a substance can only do one thing at a time. It either raises the temperature or changes the state. Many students were surprised that the temperature did not continue to rise even when energy was continually added.
