2nd Grade Pow-Wow; 4th Grade Flat Stanley

The 2nd grade art class has spent the school year learning about Native American Art and Culture. On April 11, 2012 they celebrated the end of their studies with a Pow-Wow. A Pow-Wow is a Native American Celebration of life and living. The students dressed in homemade costumes and played homemade drums to the tempo of authentic Native American music. They ate beef jerky, and looked at Native American Artifacts from the Dennis White Farms. The students had fun and enjoyed learning about Native American Art and Culture.

The Diller-Odell 4th grader art class had a special visitor from Summerfield Elementary School, Flat Stanley. Stanley travelled to Diller-Odell via the United States Postal system. He was sent by Kinsey Feldkamp a 4th grader at Summerfield Elementary School. Stanley is a character from a book titled Flat Stanley. It is written by Jeff Brown and illustrated by Toni Ungerer. Stanley is a boy who wakes up one morning and is flat! He then has many travel adventures which includes his visit to Diller-Odell! Stanley enjoyed his visit and had his picture took with the 4th grade art class!
