As the school year winds down, I find myself reflecting over the last 42 years! (Yes, I started teaching when I was 10, haha).
My teaching styles may have changed throughout the years, but my expectations have not. I expect students to do their own work, ask questions if they need to in order to learn the material, but most importantly..... try their best. Effort goes a long way. Students know and respect my expectations. Every teacher is different, but it doesn't take students long to figure each one of us out. I love it when my students walk into my room, put their phones in the basket, sit down, and get to work. It is awesome.... they just know!! All of these things are actually "life lessons": Be on time, know what is expected of you and do it, and most importantly, be respectful. Thank you, students. You're the best!!! I will miss being your teacher and seeing you every day.
I've included a few pictures of things that are also coming to an end:
•My door decoration. It just brightens the hallway and helps put a smile on faces as they enter my room.
•My yearly countdown. "Everyone" counts down to the end of the school year, but I also count down to the beginning of the next school year. This one always makes ME laugh when students walk in and groan..."Really, Ms. Day"? hahaha "Yep...really!!"
•And lastly, my Happy Grams. I'd like to think parents AND students enjoyed getting my happy grams. Regardless, I truly enjoyed writing them and sending out good news.
I hope everyone has a great summer. I'm sure I will see most of you throughout summer and next fall as a substitute teacher.
Thank you for the opportunity to teach your child(ren). I truly enjoyed it.

Samuel is our April Student of the Month. He models “The Griffin Way, Every Day” by showing consistent effort, positive energy, and motivation for learning. Samuel is respectful to his peers and adults. His hard-working attitude and willingness to help out motivates others around him. Congratulations Samuel!
These Kindergarten and First Grade students have worked hard this year, and they were ready to enjoy some fun both at the Antelope Park and the Lincoln Children’s Zoo! The best part is that EVERY experience at this age is a LEARNING experience. So on this beautiful May Day, we soaked in the opportunity to travel long distances together, be engaged in the world of animals we usually only read about or see on TV, and most importantly, practice showing off our Griffin Way Every Day mentality even outside of our school community.

The Career Exploration class has been lucky to have had these professionals and experts in their fields sharing their experiences and knowledge with them in our classroom this quarter. Special thanks to Deputy Hager, Marcus Eickmann, and Morganne Kostal!
