Portraits, Flowers and Fish...OH MY!
Portraits, Flowers, and Fish...OH MY! The Fifth grade learned about contemporary Canadian visual artist, poet, and creator of the Silbersenze method, Sandra Silberzweig. They created self portraits using the Silbersenze method and are currently on display in the elementary cafeteria. The fourth-grade students created large painted flowers after studying Georgia O'Keefe, one of the most significant American artists of the 20th century, renowned for her contribution to modern art. The third-grade students learned about Kinetic Art and created their own Kinetic Piranhas. Kinetic art is a fascinating genre that hinges on motion for its impact. Unlike other artistic styles, the term kinetic art is less about how a piece is created and more about how it's presented and experienced. Their aquarium display has changed during its exhibition in the elementary school lobby. Claude Monet inspired the second-grade class to create their painted paper sculpture water lilies. The advanced Art 3 & 4 students are currently working with clay while the Art 1 & 2 students are painting landscapes, pictures of finished artwork will come later. It's been a fun and fast-paced first quarter here at Diller-Odell and I'm looking forward to the many projects we have planned for the students in the art program.
