Diller-Odell Elementary Student Support Team



An article was shared on our school website explaining the MTSS framework for Diller-Odell.  An important piece of our Multi-Tiered System of Support is our Student Support Teams.  We have a team in each of our buildings.  We collaborate to problem-solve, make decisions, and organize data that helps drive instruction and interventions to improve outcomes for all students in our building.  Along with the members of our team, involve each classroom teacher, and we invite families to join us in the decision-making process.


  • Our school-wide approach to student support involves working as a team with the child’s classroom teacher, reading and math interventionist, Title 1 teacher, special education teacher, K-12 counselor, and our school psychologist. We assess students and plan interventions.

  • Along with an integrated system of general education and special education, we also do our best to involve all our “specials” teachers and paraeducators.  They all have the opportunity to offer their input about students as well. It is important to view all aspects of the whole child.

  • We work to provide early interventions for students who need support to reach their academic or behavioral goals.

  • We help design integrated plans that address students’ academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.

  • We use evidence-based strategies, ex: Sound Partners, Rewards, Heggerty, K-Pals, Lexia Core5, Reveal Math, Wonders, Check-in/Check-out, Second Step, etc.

  • Monthly monitoring of students' progress to help determine if interventions need to be modified, more layers of support added, or if interventions can be tapered off.  

  • We welcome/encourage family involvement so they can understand the interventions in place, go over the progress monitoring results, celebrate growth, be involved in decisions about changes to interventions, and help to provide support at home.
