A Goodbye Letter...from School Nurse, Dusty Duis
Dear Students, Parents, Staff and Others,
It is with a sad heart I share with you my resignation from Diller-Odell Public Schools. This December will be my last month as your school nurse with my last day of school being December 16th. I have accepted a position with Southeast Community College Beatrice Campus as a Practical Nursing Instructor.
I thank you all with a very grateful heart for having me as your nurse over the last 8 years. It has been an honor and joy to serve you. I have always referred to this as my fun job! For you, students, I realize you do not see me on a daily basis and sometimes even on a weekly basis but I do care about you! I pray for your health and success. Parents, thank you for working with me and sharing the health of your students.
Staff and administration, I feel I owe you the credit for molding me and getting me to this point in my career to be able to become a nursing instructor. To this day I remember sitting on a chair at home, slipping on my shoes before I walked out the door to come in for our August in-services. Who was I to teach teachers? I was so nervous I felt it in my stomach! I have enjoyed getting to know you and working with you in the school over the years. Thank you for helping me build my speaking and instruction skills and my confidence!
And for all the others I’ve worked with through this adventure, thank you! Thank you for your interest in our children and the health of our schools.
Wishing you all a blessed holiday season,
Dusty G Duis RN BSN
