Fourth Grade Field Trip to Filley Stone Barn
The fourth graders took a field trip to the Filley Stone Barn on October 3. The students learned the history of the barn and its importance in Gage County. All students had the opportunity to shell corn, pick and husk corn, milk a pretend cow, saw wood, and drill into logs. The students also learned how to make butter and saw different types of churns. A wagon ride was taken around the property. A blacksmith and a marble maker showed the students their techniques. All the students agreed that it was a fun day to learn how pioneers lived and worked!
