2024 JH Lady Griffin Basketball
The Junior High Lady Griffins recently completed their 2024 basketball season. There were only nine girls who participated on the squad this year, so everyone was able to receive a lot of playing time. Of the nine girls, 4 of them were 8th Graders while 5 of them were 7th Graders.
On the year the A-Team won 5 games and lost 4. They finished in 3rd Place at both the mid-season Lewiston Tourney and the end-of-the-year Nebraska City Lourdes Tourney. With fewer girls playing, the B-Team games consisted of only playing 1 or 2 extra quarters, sometimes with a running clock going. Early in the year, the Johnson-Brock home game was canceled because of extreme cold & snow.
The Junior High team was coached by John Mohr. He feels that a lot of improvement took place from the beginning of the season to the end. Shooting, ball-handling, and overall knowledge of the game among the girls became much better. It will be fun to watch how these Junior High girls transition their basketball game into high school players within the next few years!
