2.1. Student Report

 

A student report of activities was provided by Skylar Pretzer for the Board to review

 

2.2. Principal Report

 

Mr. Mezger reported on the positive donations through the Block the Door Party. All goods were donated to the Wymore Food Pantry. He also reported on in-service activities from Feb. 8 and the upcoming ACT assessment date of April 10. He also noted that he and Mrs. Becker would be attending workshops on ways to improve the 8 period day.

3.  Personnel Items​​​​​​​

 

3.1. Discuss possible change to Volunteer Policy involving Volunteer Coaches

 

The Board discussed the possible policy change relating to volunteer coaches. The change would read:

Volunteer Coaches will be assigned with the Head Coach making a request to the Activities Director and assigned with the approval of the Superintendent. No person shall be approved as a volunteer coach if the volunteer has children playing on the respective sports team that the coach would volunteer for.

 

This policy change would not prohibit someone with children on a team to be offered a paid position as coach, should the school feel it is in the teams' best interest to employ that person.

 

The Board will consider the change at future meetings

Mr. Mezger gave an update on ACT software and ELPA software.​​​​​​​

Superintendent Meyerle answered questions on the new gym construction and facility updates.

5.1. Superintendent Report

 

Superintendent Meyerle gave an update on teacher negotiations that would begin in the fall of 2019. The teachers have a contract for 2019-20. Negotiations in the fall would be for 2020- 2021 and 2021-2022 should the district continue with a 2-year contract.

7.1. Set Administrative Salaries for 2019-2020

 

Motion to approve administrative salaries for 2019-20 Passed with a motion by Paul Kostal and a second by Toni Landenberger.

Superintendent Meyerle noted that a 3% raise for administration is the same percentage increase that is given to non-certified staff.  Mr. Meyerle's salary for 2019-20 would be $128,419. Mr.

Mezger's salary for 2019-20 would be $98,713​​​​​​​

 

7.2. Committee Reports

 

President Stohs provided the Board with some legislative news. The Board agrees that property tax relief needs to come from a growth of new revenue and hopes the state legislature moves toward the future and new revenue sources.

 

Superintendent Meyerle plans on all the Board members attending the upcoming NRCSA in Kearney.​​​​​​​

President Stohs adjourned the meeting at 8:47pm. The next regular Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12 at 7:30 pm at the high school.
