Mr. John Mohr
Hi, my name is John Mohr. I have been formally teaching in Nebraska since the Fall of 1997, and have been at Diller-Odell since the Fall of 2000. I became a teacher because I had great role models who were educators when I was growing up in Ponca, Ne. I continue to teach because I really enjoy interacting with young people and being a positive role model. Being able to share life’s experiences with students is rewarding.
Currently, I teach a variety of Social Studies/History classes, along with a Strength Training class. Additionally, I am in my 19th year as head coach for Girls High School Basketball. I also coach both Junior High Football and Junior High Girls Basketball. I help co-sponsor the ENGAGE activity group here at Diller-Odell, which is an organization that promotes leadership qualities for our middle-school-aged students.
Previously at Diller-Odell I was head Track & Field coach for 7 years. I have been an assistant High School Football & Basketball coach as well during my tenure. And I was also the sponsor for the Class of 2006.
I have been married to my wife Tricia since 1994. We have two children. Peyton, a graduate of Doane University, currently lives & works in Lincoln, NE. And Paxton, is currently in his 3rd year of college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Over the years attending or participating in our boys’ activities has occupied much of our family’s time!
Other activities I enjoy doing are traveling to different places to attend sporting events or visit historical landmarks. I also collect sports memorabilia, and I like to fish & golf when I get the chance. A favorite quote of mine is by Ralph Waldo Emerson --- “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”
