New Gym Project
We are excited about the construction of the new gym at the High School. Completion is set for summer 2019.
The gym will feature an entrance on the east side, with a connection to the existing high school. The main concourse area will house the concession stand, trophy displays, concession seating, video boards and charging stations.
Spectators will be able to view the games from the concourse area through the large glass windows.
The teams will be seated on the floor in chairs on the guest side (north side). There will be an upper viewing area on the home side (south side) for media and for spectators to stand. The gym will also offer three rows of bleachers on the west end of the court for the band, or for students to stand and watch the game.
There will be two locker rooms for our teams to utilize during games. The visitors will continue to unload on the south side of the high school and use the old locker rooms. There will be a team room in the new addition for visiting teams to use for halftime. This will give them some space so they don’t have to go all the way back to their locker room for halftime.
There will be numerous advantages to the new facility. Our current gym will be more accessible for speech, play production, music and youth programs. It will also enable us to start JV basketball games at 4:30 and played at the same time before girls’ varsity and boys’ varsity basketball games.
Both the girls and boys high school basketball teams will now be able to practice without one of them traveling on a daily basis for practice.
We hope to add tournaments in volleyball and basketball to our school. Volleyball would utilize both gyms for pool play, and basketball would have both gyms in use for a Junior high or Junior varsity tournament.
We will also be able to host the Conference Finals in basketball or a Sub District/District Final game between other schools.
We have designed this gym to meet our needs, while using many of the concepts from gyms we travel to.
