Griffins Compete at Reading Classics
The Diller-Odell Reading Classics team competed at the Beatrice Armory March 17th. The competition consisted of 5 rounds with 10 questions in each round. The 10th question was a current events question in every round.
The 3rd and 4th grade team placed 4th; they lost by one point to Beatrice. Beatrice (Stoddard) had 34 and we had 33 along with 2 other Beatrice schools. The 3rd and 4th grade team members were: Madeline Parde, Ashley Duis, Erin Gegg, Baileigh Vilda, and Jaedyn Hajek.
The Division II Reading Classic team (5th and 6th graders) team members were Ellie Weers, Esequiel Cuevas, David Parde, Karli Heidemann, and Elecea Saathoff. They had a list of 75 chapter books to read that included the 2016/17 Golden Sower nominees and previous Golden Sower winners, Newbery winner and honor books, other award winning titles and a variety of committee choice books. Congratulations to the team on your effort and for the many hours you devoted to reading to prepare for this competition.
