Jefferson Country 5th and 6th Grade Spelling Bee
On Monday, February 9, 2015 Mr. Larsen took nine 5th and 6th graders to Meridian Public Schools for the 2015 Jefferson County Spelling Bee. There were 5 different schools that participated in this year's competition. There were approximately 45 students that spelled that day. Diller-Odell contestants were 6th Grade- Viola Martinez, Brianna Weers, Paxton Mohr, Jacob Meyer, JC Basye, Korey Theye, and Addison Heidemann. The 5th grade contestants were Kellen Gegg, Allison Engelman, and Madelyn Meyerle was the alternate. We had 4 students that placed in the top 10. These students were Addison Heidemann-9th place, Korey Theye- 5th place, JC Basye-4th place, and Kellen Gegg-2nd place. The top four contestants move on to the District Spelling Bee on March 7th in Fairbury. We are very proud of all nine participants. We want to wish Kellen and JC best of luck in the upcoming District contest.
