Judy Krause, paraeducator at Diller-Odell Elementary Schools, has been honored as one of the two paraeducators of the year in Nebraska.  The award was announced at the annual Paraeducator Conference in Kearney on October 30, 2014.

"I am here to help ALL the children, in what ever way I can."  Mrs. Krause began her para career in the speech program at Odell Schools and has served as a general and special education para for the Diller-Odell district since the fall of 2000.  Her entire career totals 26 years of dedication to children.

Judy approaches every duty with dedication and purpose. She has been involved in establishing the anti-bullying program, serves on the school's Response to Intervention Team, was responsible for the entry of the DIBELS test data, and participated in the Invision Elementary Spanish program.

Mrs. Krause averages approximately 40 hours of professional development annually.  Since 2004 she has attended 20 hours of training on Behavior Management and over 93 hours of reading related professional development.  During the 2013/14 school year she participated in 10 hours of Autism training.

She is described by her co-workers as skillful, proactive, responsible, professional, insightful, patient, and positive. Judy is willing to give extra effort and applies the same skillful ability to all students she works with, regardless of where she is assigned..   A parent wrote, " Mrs. Krause is the epitome of what every parent wishes all paras could be.  What she has comes from the heart."

Upon receiving the award, Mrs. Krause shared these thoughts, "I am truly humbled and honored to be recognized as paraeducator of the year in Nebraska. Diller-Odell School operates like a well-coached team, and I feel blessed to be a part of it.  Our administrators encourage paras to attend professional growth workshops, participate at in-services, and be on school improvement committees.  The teachers are great mentors and include paras in the teamwork of teaching our students.  I look forward to each day and find joy in being a part of our next generation's learning experiences."

Her impact has occurred through some specific large and a million small acts of caring and commitment to serve the needs of ALL of the children.  She truly is a Professional EDUCATOR, merely lacking the credentials.  She is an invaluable asset to the Diller-Odell system and is worthy of this honor.  Congratulations Mrs. Krause!
