Studying Probability and Statistics with Skittles

“I wonder if every bag of Skittles has the same number of each color in it?” This was the question posed by one of the students in the first semester Probability/Statistics class.  For a final project students counted each color of Skittles in their own bag.  They compared the number of each color in their bag, the total number in the bag, and looked at the probability of drawing a certain color. Results showed there were different numbers for each color in each bag, but the totals were within one candy.  Students also looked at how many Skittles are in a serving.  Then they ate the Skittles.
