Regular Meeting
May 14, 2012
President Gary Stohs called the meeting to order at 7:36 P.M. and recognized the posted Open Meeting Act document. Present: Gary Stohs, Chad Lottman, Toni Landenberger, Dean Engelman, and John Knabe. Absent: Paul Kostal. Administrator Darrell Vitosh was present. John K. read the minutes of the April 9, 2012 regular meeting. John K. moved to accept the minutes as presented. Chad L. seconded the motion. MCU. Paul Kostal arrived at 7:42.
Chad L. moved to amend the agenda arrangement, moving item II-A, Teacher Salary negotiations, to VI-C. Dean E. seconded the motion. MCU
Gary S. presented Principal Meyerle’s written report to the board. Southern High School has asked about interest in a golf coop. Visitor Jill Scheele expressed support for additional activities. After discussion, Gary S. asked that the item be placed on the June agenda. Norris Public Power’s Operation Roundup has donated $1500 for new stage curtains at the elementary. We are receiving estimates into keyless entry systems for both buildings.
Toni L. moved to approve an Interlocal agreement with Lincoln Public Schools for Deaf Educator services for 2012-13. Chad L. seconded the motion. MCU
Board committee reports focused on care of the track and ball field restrooms during the spring and summer, as well as bus and vehicle maintenance
Superintendent Vitosh reported that eighteen kindergartners are expected in the fall. A $52,000 preschool grant is available from NDE for 2012-13.
Chad L. moved to approve use of Special Building Funds to upgrade the current Internet infrastructure. The upgrade will increase access speeds tenfold and allow for students and guests to bring their own devices onto the network. Paul K. seconded the motion. MCU
Chad L. moved to pay bills as presented. Paul K. seconded the motion. MCU
Dean E. moved to enter executive session for the purpose of teacher salary negotiations at 8:27. Toni L. seconded the motion. MCU The Board resumed regular session at 8:38.
John K. moved to adjourn. Paul K. seconded the motion. MCU. President Gary S. adjourned the meeting at 8:39 P.M. The next regular Board meeting is scheduled for 7:30, June 11, 2012 at the High School media center in Odell.
