Regular Meeting

January 16, 2012

 

President Gary Stohs called the meeting to order at 7:32 P.M. and recognized the posted Open Meeting Act document. Present: Paul Kostal, Dean Engelman, Toni Landenberger, John Knabe, Gary Stohs, Chad Lottman, and student representative, Kolin Scheele.  Administrators Darrell Vitosh and Michael Meyerle were present.  Secretary John K. read the minutes of the Dec. 12, 2011 regular meeting.  Chad L. moved to accept minutes as presented. Paul K. seconded the motion. MCU

 

Toni L. moved to retain all officers in their current positions for 2011, Gary Stohs, president, Chad Lottman, Vice President, John Knabe, secretary, and Paul Kostal, treasurer.  Dean E seconded the motion.  MCU

 

John K. moved to accept standing committee appointments as presented.  Toni L. seconded the motion. MCU  Chad L. moved to retain the Beatrice Daily Sun as the official newspaper, to retain Harding & Shultz as legal counsel, to retain The State Bank of Odell as the official repository, to appoint Superintendent Vitosh as the Attendance Officer and Federal Programs Director.   Paul K. seconded the motion. MCU

 

Paul K. moved to recognize the DOEA as the bargaining agent for non administrative, certificated employees for 2012-13 and 2013-14 negotiations.  John K. seconded the motion.  MCU

 

Student board representative, Kolin Scheele, reported the classes resumed on Jan. 5.  Both girls and boys basketball teams competed in the MUDECAS conference tourney last week and each came away with a win and a loss.  FFA members attended the District Leadership Conference and the Parliamentary Procedure team qualified for state with a second place finish.  Band members attended the Pioneer Clinic at Southern.  Future events include a Booster Club Carnival on Jan. 21, MUDECAS Speech Contest, a Student Council Winter Workshop, and the Pioneer Conference Basketball Tournament.

 

John K. moved to renew membership in NJUMP, a natural gas service consortium.  Paul K. seconded the motion.  MCU 

 

John K. moved to renew membership in the PowerSchool Consortium, which provides our student management system.  Dean E. seconded the motion.  MCU

 

Principal Meyerle informed the Board that principal candidates are interviewing this week. The Board discussed the contract parameters necessary for the hire.  The Board also discussed options for the delivery of high school Spanish.

 

Superintendent Vitosh informed the Board of the upcoming NRCSA convention and legislative review session.

 

John K. moved to pay bills as presented. Chad L. seconded the motion.  MCU

 

John K. moved to adjourn.  Dean E. seconded the motion. MCU. President Gary S. adjourned the meeting at 8:51 P.M.  The next regular Board meeting is scheduled for    7:30, February 13, 2012, at the High School media center in Odell.
