5th Grade Native American Homes
The Fifth Graders just finished learning about the different Native American groups that lived within the United States boundaries during the time period of the 1400’s to the mid 1800’s. They learned about some of the groups in the Southwest, Woodlands area, Plains, and Northwest Coast. As an end of the study project, each student was given a choice of a Native American home and was to construct their version of what they would have looked like. They were then asked to answer five questions about their homes. These included, who would have used this home and where was it located, what were they made of and what did you use to make it, and why would they have constructed that type of home.
This is always a fun activity because we get to see how each student interprets each home. The students also enjoy this project because they get to be creative and do something hands on work. Please enjoy the photographs of all their hard work.
