Black History Month

February is black history month and the first-grade class learned about some brave African Americans. We learned about George Washington Carver, Martin Luther King, Jr, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks and Ruby Bridges. We especially enjoyed learning about Ruby Bridges. We learned she was a brave first grader going to school in an all-white school in the south around 1960. She was courageous walking past protesters daily. Ruby paved the way for many other African Americans who followed her. We learned a lot during black history month.
