Building is Fun!
K-2 library students enjoyed two stories about building: The One Day House by Julia Durango and Jasper and Ollie Build a Fort by Alex Willan. The stories’ themes pointed to the importance of teamwork, patience, and planning ahead when working on a construction project. Ultimately, both spoke to the value of looking out for your friends, family, and neighbors and lending a helping hand when needed. After reading and discussing the stories, students had the opportunity to build their own masterpieces out of LEGO, wooden blocks, or waffle blocks during checkout rotation. Students worked together to create towers, cars, and houses among other creations.
