2.1. Principal Report
Principal Mezger reported to the Board on activities surrounding the beginning of school.

2.2. Threat Extinguisher presentation by Diode Technologies
Diode Technologies gave a presentation on the "Threat Extinguisher".  It is a product that helps deal with intruders, and has instant notification of an issue.  The product would relieve anyone from having to call 911 and explain the situation as well as offer some defense versus intruders into the buildings.

4.1. Technology Update
Principal Mezger reported on student computer devices.

4.2. Facility Update
Superintendent Meyerle reported that the painting outside of the old gym at the HS was completed.  The AC units in the old gym at the HS are being replaced, and the edging on the roof of that gym is set to be spray coated in the next week.  A new dishwasher will be installed in the elementary kitchen this week.

 

5. Superintendent Items

5.1. Superintendent Report
Superintendent Meyerle gave the Board a report on his budget work to this point.  Final numbers will not be complete until the valuations are in from the counties.

He discussed COVID-19 protocols which include voluntary mask wearing, sanitizing, disinfecting and the washing of hands on a regular basis.  Students or staff that test positive will be home for 10 days from the start of symptoms.  Close contacts will be asked to self monitor their health.  If people do not feel well, they are directed to stay home.

5.1.1. Discuss possible track coop with Southern HS
The Board discussed the topic and didn't feel they would pursue the subject. They realize that the coop would move our students up a class in track. The Board would be open to a discussion should Southern Schools want to pursue the matter in future years.

President Kostal adjourned the meeting at 8:43pm. 

A Special Meeting on Americanism and Budget Planning will be held at 7:00pm August 25, 2021 at the Elementary School Media Center in Diller. The Board of Education will usually adhere to the sequence of the published agenda, but reserves the right to adjust the order of items if necessary and may elect to amend the agenda as deemed necessary.

The next Regular Board meeting is scheduled to follow the annual budget and tax request hearings on September 15, 2021 at the Elementary Media Center in Diller.  The 2021-2022 Budget Hearing is scheduled for 7:00pm and with the Tax Request Hearing to follow the conclusion of the Budget Hearing September 15.  The Board of Education will usually adhere to the sequence of the published agenda, but reserves the right to adjust the order of items if necessary and may elect to amend the agenda as deemed necessary.
