Griffin Derby 2021
Mr. Larsen’s 6th-hour Digital Literacy class and Mr. Garcia's 6th hour Independent Science class paired up on a project. The idea of this project came from Andrew who is working with Mr. Garcia. He wanted to conduct a Hot Wheels race for anyone to enter. Mr. Garcia talked to Mr. Larsen about having his 6th-hour Digital Literacy class help film and create a video for the race. Andrew and Dave created a flyer and took entries for this race. They called it the 2021 Griffin Derby. There were some specific criteria for this; the cars had to be in the package and had to be from 2000 and newer. The event had 36 entries ranging from Freshman to Faculty. The race consisted of 9 heats with 4 cars per heat, and the winners went into a 3 heat semifinal. The 3 semifinalists then went to the finals in a winner take all race.
