Freshmen Experiment in Physical Science

The freshman Physical Science class recently did a lab to determine the results of a substance when energy is added to a system. Even though some thought that the themometers were not working correctly, they found out that energy will either raise the temperature of a substance or cause it to go through a change of state, not both. When the substance started to boil, the temperature stayed the same even though energy was continually being added.
