Kindergartners Celebrate Presidents
The kindergarten class has been celebrating presidents this month. Presidents Washington and Lincoln were the focus since their birthdays fall in February and the students learned some facts about their lives and why they were so important to our history. In addition they learned the presidents’ names who are on our country’s coins and bills and are getting really good at identifying coins and their values.
Knowledge about their place in the world - as living in a small community, in the state of Nebraska, part of many United States, on the continent of North America, on planet Earth - changes the students' perspectives greatly. The kindergartners spent some time talking about what being an American means and that it is similar to what it means to be a Griffin - to be responsible, respectful and safe members of our community in which they live.
