What a Fall! -an update from Mr. McMurray, AD

Anyone who watched our football team saw guys that worked hard and showed improvement as the season went on.  They were rewarded with a trip to the State Playoffs.

The FFA brought home numerous awards in District and State competitions.

Our volleyball team capped off a wonderful season by winning the Class D-1 State Championship.   After doing a bit of research, I found that the average GPA of the team members is 3.7 and 14 of the 16 girls on the team are either honor roll or high honor roll students.  These numbers are as impressive as winning the State Championship Trophy.

Topping it off was Diller-Odell winning the Sportsmanship Trophy at the State Tournament.  I am fortunate enough to see the comments from the judges.  It clearly was a complete effort:  from the players on the court and on the bench, the student section (including cheerleaders and band), and from the fans in the stands.  We were the clear winner of the award and I could probably speak for many when I say this makes me extremely proud to be a Griffin.

My hope is that winning this award will serve as encouragement for all during the basketball season.  It is my hope that our coaches, players and fans will show our opponents and the officials the same respect and sportsmanship that we did at the State Volleyball tournament.
