Mr. Garcia's Science Classes
Mr. Garcia's science classes are off to a great start. They have been discussing a number of topics this year. A highlight of the Chemistry class for quarter 1 was getting to tie-dye clothing as part of a lab while discussing osmosis and diffusion. The ink will diffuse from areas of higher concentration to lower concentration on clothing when rubbing alcohol is applied.
The grow towers are also fully up and running this year. The science department along with the Diller Odell FFA chapter received a grant last year to purchase 4 grow towers to grow healthy greens and vegetables for the school. Jadyn and Ashtyn have been busy planting, growing, and harvesting herbs and lettuce. The lettuce has been used in the high school cafeteria during lunches. We hope to have the 4th tower located in the elementary shortly after Christmas break.
