First Graders Learn Rhythm Patterns
The first graders are learning to identify simple rhythm patterns during Music class. We are currently playing a matching game. Students need to turn over a card and read the correct notation to their partners before attempting to find a matching card. This teaches them correct rhythm patterns, but also builds on the student's ability to discern similarities and differences - a skill required in fluent reading, math computation and evaluating issues in Science and Social Studies.
