Homecoming Week Activities and Events Full of Griffin Pride
Homecoming week was a busy time for Diller-Odell sports! Athletics kicked off on Tuesday with both volleyball and softball games. The Lady Griffin volleyball team played Sterling at home. They swept the Jets three sets to none in a very successful game! The same night, 13 miles away in Blue Springs, the softball team was also playing extremely well against the Wilber Wolverines. The girls run-ruled Wilber, winning 11-1. Perhaps their stellar play could be due to the fact that Parents’ Night had been held before the game, and everyone was excited to get onto the field and make their parents proud. On Thursday, the volleyball girls played at Tri-county and were able to come away with a win, three sets to one. The softball team played Fairbury on their home field but were, unfortunately, beat 11-4. All of this lead up to the homecoming football game on Friday. The boys fought hard and were able to come away with a stunning victory against Pawnee City, scoring a whopping 62 points and completely shutting out their opponents! Following the game, Bryston and Kirsten were crowned homecoming king and queen. Everything wrapped up on Saturday with the volleyball tournament in Axtell. The girls had an amazing day, winning all of their sets and coming away with first place and gold medals! After the tournament, the girls headed back to Odell where the homecoming dance was being held in the cafeteria. The week came to a close with everyone dancing the night away. It is safe to say that all Diller-Odell athletes had a very successful week!
Even though it was a short week of school for Diller-Odell students, Homecoming Week festivities and celebrations were not! Students and staff enjoyed the dress up days this week: Disney/Cartoon Day, Student/Teacher Swap Day and Pajama Day.
