5th and 6th Graders Participate at Thayer Central Elementary Quiz Bowl
On Thursday, October 13th ten 5th and 6th Graders participated at the Thayer Central Elementary Quiz Bowl. Besides the host school Thayer Central, there were 7 other schools involved. Bruning Davenport, David City, Fairbury, Meridian, Osceola, Sutton, and Diller-Odell. There was a 5th grade division and a 6th Grade division. Each team was to play each team once for a total of 7 matches, and the team with the most wins took home first place. In the 5th Grade division, Diller-Odell was able to take home 2nd Place and each team member was given a medal. Those members were Lilly Swanson, Tatum Schroeder, Ellie Weers, Callan McKinney, Zach Warren, and Alternate Emma Rupprecht.
In the 6th Grade Division, Diller-Odell was not able to get into the top 3. They did an excellent job and had many matches that were within 1-2 questions. Those team members were Jason Arnold, Abby Vater, Elecea Saathoff, Karli Heidemann, Kate Kostal, and Alternate Sidney Gegg. Both teams did a great job and had a lot of fun. Their next competition is in February at Thayer Central again, who is hosting the ESU 5 Elementary Quiz Bowl. The Quiz Bowl team would also like to thank all the parents and grandparents that came to support them. It always helps having a big cheering section.
