Welcome Back!

from Mr. Meyerle

I look forward to the coming of fall and the beginning of the 2016-17 school year.    Fall is a great time:  kids back in a steady routine, cooler temps, harvest time and fall sports.

We look forward to a great year at school and our staff will be eager to begin 2016-17.  We welcome back all staff and welcome a new preschool teacher,  Ms. Delaney Rees.  Please make her feel welcome at home at D-O.

We continue to work on facility upgrades to insure we can move into the future and maintain and improve the buildings we have.  This summer carpet updates were completed, a new drive at the HS was poured and we opened a fitness center at the high school.  I believe these continued improvements are necessary for us to move into the future and continue to better ourselves as a school district.  To be relevant in the future small communities need to continually look to improve and  be attractive places to live.

We are very proud of our students' achievements at school.  The success is to be shared by all stakeholders.  I firmly believe what makes our system so strong is the relationship between teachers, students, parents, administration, Board and community.  There will always be bumps in the road.  When they are, such issues need to be handled appropriately.

Thanks to everyone for the role they fulfill for our school.  As on any good team , all roles are not the same, but all are important.  Everyone that works at school serves as part of a quality education for our students.  We are fortunate that our kids are able to go to school at Diller-Odell and offer the variety of activities that we do.  Be thankful for all of the positive attributes that go with living in quality rural areas.  If you don't feel fortunate, watch the news.

We all need to make the most of our time and continue to make our small part of the world a better place for everyone.  If you are standing still, you are not improving.

I am looking forward to a terrific 2016-17.  I think our students and our staff  have great things ahead of us this year!

Go Griffs!

Mike Meyerle, Superintendent
