Diller-Odell Lights it Up Blue for Autism
Everyone at Diller-Odell shared in learning about Autism during the 2016 focus from April 18 – 22. At the elementary school a t-shirt logo contest was held among Circle of Friends members and Mad Meyerle’s design was selected to represent the school wide event. Elementary students kicked off the week with a pledge, informational program, fact game and balloon release which were all planned and carried out by the Circle of Friends members. The celebration was topped off with blue puzzle shaped cookies provided by Julie Klecan. Through out the week student readers shared books that promoted respect, understanding and patience for all differences. Students learned through autism guidance lessons to celebrate everyone’s own kind of awesome. Blue and autism t-shirts colored the halls on Thursday and blue lights have illuminated the elementary building through out the month of April.
