February 2015 Regular Minutes

Diller-Odell Regular BOE Meeting

February 9, 2015

President Gary Stohs called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and recognized the posted Open Meetings Act document.  Present: Gary Stohs, Jill Scheele, Dean Engelman, Toni Landenberger and Paul Kostal.    Absent:  Chad Lottman.  The absence was excused.  Administrator Mike Meyerle was present. Visitors Lana Hemphill and Calvin Hennerberg were also present.

Paul K. moved to approve the minutes as presented. Jill S. seconded the motion.  MCU.

Calvin Hennerberg presented a student report on recent student activities.

Mr. Prososki had a written report prepared for the Board which included information on school survey results from students as well as a technology update.

The Board reviewed and discussed policies 4039-4058. Paul K. moved to adopt policies 4039-4058.  Dean E. seconded the motion.  MCU.

The Board reviewed policies 5001-5025. They will look to adopt these policies during the March meeting.

Toni L. moved to adopt the 2015-16 school calendar as presented.  Jill S. seconded the motion.  MCU.

Mr. Meyerle noted that there would be no increase in Driver’s Education charges this summer.

The Board received Early Separation applications from Cathy Lyons, Sharon Tegtmeier and Lana Hemphill.

Toni L. moved to approve the three applications for early separation.  Dean E. seconded the motion.  MCU.  The resignations will be effective at the end of the 2014-15 school year.

The Board thanks Mrs. Hemphill for her 43 years of service, Mrs. Tegtmeier for 40 years of service and Cathy Lyons for her 31 years of service, and wishes them each well in retirement.

Toni L. moved to increase Mr. Prososki’ s salary by 3.5% for the 2015-16 school year, and add five days to the contract and compensate him for the increase in time.  Dean. E. seconded the motion.  MCU.

Dean E. moved to approve the sale of two 1997 school vans.  Paul K. seconded the motion.  MCU.  Mr. Meyerle will take sealed bids for the sale of the vans.

Mr. Meyerle gave an update on the upcoming schedule to interview job candidates for openings.

Mr. Meyerle informed the Board of his plan to approve Mrs. O’Neil as an assistant track coach for the spring to better serve the program.

Paul K. moved to pay bills.  Dean E. seconded the motion.  MCU.

Dean E. moved to approve NASB membership for 2015-16. Toni L. seconded the motion.  MCU.

The Board thanks the Diller-Odell Ball Association for the donation of $2500 to expand the concession stand at the ball field in Diller.

Toni L. moved to adjourn the meeting. Jill S. seconded the motion.  MCU.

President Gary Stohs adjourned the meeting at 8:36 p.m.

The next Regular Board meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., March 9, 2015 at the Elementary School Media Center in Diller.    The Board of Education will usually adhere to the sequence of the published agenda, but reserves the right to adjust the order of items if necessary and may elect to amend the agenda as deemed necessary.
