November 2014 Regular Minutes

Diller-Odell Regular BOE Meeting

November 10, 2014

President Gary Stohs called the meeting to order at 7:33 p.m. and recognized the posted Open Meetings Act document.  Present: Gary Stohs, Toni Landenberger, Jill Scheele and Paul Kostal.  Absent: Dean Engelman and Chad Lottman.  Administrator Mike Meyerle and Chris Prososki were present. No visitors were present.

Paul K. moved to approve the minutes as presented. Toni L.  seconded the motion.  MCU.

There was not a student report. 

Mr. Prososki reported to the Board on the following: NePAS rankings, the AQuESST accountability system, school survey results, and a writing curriculum project that he and several staff members are involved in.

Chad L. arrived at the meeting at 7:38 p.m.

The Board reviewed and discussed policies 4001-4018. Paul K. moved to adopt policies 4001-4018.  Jill S. seconded the motion.  MCU.

The Board reviewed policies 4019-4038. 

Mr. Meyerle reported that some pot holes were fixed in the south drive of the HS, that he has had some people look at some HVAC work in the shop, and that he was finalizing some items before signing a contract with Hall Brothers for the track project.

Mr. Meyerle distributed to the Board a letter from the school accountant and copies of the Annual Financial report.  The Board was also given a summary of the recent safety audit performed by Bruce Lang.

The Board reviewed EHA premium rates for 2015-2016.  The rates will have an increase of 1.9%.

Mr. Meyerle noted that if the volleyball team would win on Thursday at the State Volleyball Tournament, that there would be no school on Friday, November 14, as the team would play at 11:00 a.m.

Jill S. moved to pay bills.  Toni L. seconded the motion.  MCU.

Paul K. moved to enter executive session at 8:15 p.m. to discuss Mr. Meyerle’s annual evaluation as Superintendent.  Jill S. seconded the motion.  MCU.

The Board re-entered regular session at 8:30 p.m.

Jill S. moved to adjourn the meeting. Toni L. seconded the motion.  MCU.

President Gary Stohs adjourned the meeting at 8:33 p.m.

The next Regular Board meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., December 8, 2014 at the High School Media Center in Odell.    The Board of Education will usually adhere to the sequence of the published agenda, but reserves the right to adjust the order of items if necessary and may elect to amend the agenda as deemed necessary.
