2013-2014 District Survey Report

(The following surveys were administered in the spring of 2013)

Elementary Student Survey (2-6)

Positives

1) Teacher/Student Relationships

2) Students use of computer at school to learn

Things to work on

1) Concerns about lunch

Actions Taken: The Fuel Up to Play 60 team applied/and received a grant and used the money to implement a fruit/vegetable bar at the elementary school.

*Please Note: There are federal guidelines that every school in the United States must now follow.

 

Jr./Sr. High Student Survey (7-12)

Positives

1) Technology – Power School provides useful information

2) Teaching the core academic subjects

Things to work on

1) Students treat each other with respect in school

Actions Taken: We are implementing the 40 Developmental Asset district wide to help all of our students thrive and have a successful life.

 

Staff (Certified & Classified) Survey

Positives

1) School is a positive place to be

2) Teaching the core academic subjects

Things to work on

1) Clear and consistent rules (19% of staff members did not think that the rules were clear and consistent)

Actions Taken: Continue to have staff members review the Discipline Intervention Pyramid, school policies, and the faculty handbook.

2) School is clean and well maintained

Actions Taken: It is an ongoing process to update carpet, paint, renovate gyms, and replace roofs.

 

Parent/Patron Survey

*Please Note: There was a very low response rate for the parent/patron survey (Only 38 parents/patrons filled out the 2013-2014 survey, as compared to 63 parents/patrons the year before)

Positives

1) Parents/Patrons feel informed about programs and activities

2) Children are college and career ready after Diller-Odell Public Schools

Things to work on

1) School is clean and well maintained

Actions Taken: It is an ongoing process to update carpet, paint, renovate gyms, and replace roofs.

 

The school improvement committee has decided to implement the following surveys yearly: Elementary Student Survey (4-6), Jr./Sr High Student Survey, and Staff Survey (Certified & Classified).  The Parent/Patron Survey will be administered every other year. 

*Please Note: Only the students in grades 4-6 will take the elementary survey in the years ahead.
