What Are Drop in a Buckets?

In case you are hearing your child say they are doing drop in buckets, they are correct!  Drop in the Buckets are math/reading sources of daily independent practice. Each time the student practices just a little drop of work in the skill areas.  For example in Math students will be doing 1-2 problems on words/symbols patterns add/subtract, ordinal number, basic facts, problem solving, money, place value, clocks and fractions. Doing drop in buckets help us to see if the student is understanding the skill. Once the problems are completed and corrected as needed, the following week they do another drop in bucket covering the same areas but using different numbers. Many students really challenge themselves to do do their best. Reading Drop in buckets use the same method but covers basic reading skills.
