July 2014 Board Minutes

Student Fee Hearing Minutes

July 14, 2014

Vice President Chad Lottman called the Hearing to order at 7:21 p.m. and recognized the posted Open Meetings Act document. Present: Toni Landenberger, Dean Engelman, Jill Scheele and Chad Lottman. Absent: Gary Stohs and Paul Kostal. Administrators Mike Meyerle and Chris Prososki were present. No visitors were present.

Gary Stohs arrived at 7:22 p.m.

The purpose of the Hearing was to receive public comment on the proposed 2014-2015 Student Fee Policy. No comment was received.

Dean E. moved to adjourn the hearing. Toni L. seconded the motion. MCU.

President Gary Stohs adjourned the Hearing at 7:26 p.m.

 

 

Parental Involvement Hearing Minutes

July 14, 2014

President Gary Stohs called the Hearing to order at 7:27 p.m. and recognized the posted Open Meetings Act document. Present: Toni Landenberger, Gary Stohs, Dean Engelman, Jill Scheele and Chad Lottman. Absent: Paul Kostal. Administrators Mike Meyerle and Chris Prososki were present. No visitors were present.

The purpose of the Hearing was to receive public comment on the proposed 2014-2015 Parental Involvement Policy. No comment was received.

Chad L. moved to adjourn the hearing. Toni L. seconded the motion. MCU.

President Gary Stohs adjourned the Hearing at 7:32 p.m.

 

Diller-Odell Regular BOE Meeting

July 14, 2014

President Gary Stohs called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m. and recognized the posted Open Meetings Act document. Present: Gary Stohs, Toni Landenberger, Chad Lottman, Paul Kostal, Dean Engelman and Jill Scheele. Administrators Mike Meyerle and Chris Prososki were present. No visitors were present.

Chad L. moved to approve the minutes as presented. Paul K. seconded the motion. MCU.

Mr. Prososki reported on the upcoming annual safety and security meeting on August 13, the elementary open house on August 13 and 7th grade orientation on August 12. He provided the Board with some NeSA information and noted that his primary goal for the coming year was to improve our 7-12 writing scores. He also reported to the Board that his goals are to implement more technology into the classroom and make data-driven decisions to improve instruction.

Chad L. moved to reaffirm the District’s Student Fee Policy and Parental Involvement Policy. Dean E. seconded the motion. MCU.

The Board reviewed breakfast/lunch prices and athletic admission prices. No changes were made.

Paul K. moved to approve the policy resolution for the updating of school policies. Chad L. seconded the motion. MCU.

Toni L. moved to approve policies #1001, 1002, 1003, 1004, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. Jill S. seconded the motion. MCU.

Mr. Meyerle noted that during this period of updating the policies that the official policy book is located in his office.

Mr. Meyerle reported that a company was at the HS on June 26 to investigate a shop ventilation system. He is expecting to hear from them soon.

Discussion was held on the possible installation of an all-weather track in Odell. Mr. Meyerle provided the Board with budget numbers. Mr. Meyerle noted that such a project would not require an increase in the Special Building levy; it would just simply be where the dollars would be allocated for the coming year. The Board discussed how the project would serve the communities as well as the school. The Board will discuss the project further at the August meeting and weigh any concerns.

Mr. Prososki gave a technology update which included information regarding the upcoming Info Tech Night on August 12. He noted that all state reporting was complete.

Mr. Meyerle noted the need to replace the year 2000 bus, and will have an action item on the August agenda for a bus purchase.

Mr. Meyerle reported that his contract can be viewed on the school website in accordance with LB 470. He also noted his budget preparation plans for the coming weeks. He also noted that he would like his annual evaluation to be in November instead of December.

Toni L. moved to pay bills. Jill S. seconded the motion. MCU.

Toni L. moved to adjourn the meeting. Dean E. seconded the motion. MCU.

President Gary Stohs adjourned the meeting at 8:42 p.m.

The next Regular Board meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., August 11, 2014, at the Elementary School Media Center in Diller.
