Amber (Helget) Velasquez

July 04, 2012

Most people I have crossed paths with since high school graduation can’t relate when I tell them about growing up on a farm, the small towns that are close by and the small class that I started kindergarten with and then walked across the graduation stage with 13 years later. To the few that can relate, there is always an instant connection. Attending a small school is a unique experience and Diller Odell was no different. Through my experiences as a member of a variety or athletics teams, I built lasting relationships with my teammates and learned tenacity and dedication from my coaches. In the classroom, teachers at Diller Odell took the time to make an impact on each individual student; from my teachers I learned perseverance and discipline. Activities in a number of clubs and other extracurricular activities lead me to become ambitious and diverse. As I look back, I continue to feel blessed to have shared these memories with each teacher, coach, teammate, advisor and classmate at Diller Odell as those are the people that have helped to make me the person I am today.

I graduated in 2005 from Diller Odell. After graduation I attended Midland University in Fremont, Ne. I graduated in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a concentration in accounting. I am currently serving as an Alumni Class Agent for the 2009 Midland University graduating class. Since 2009 I have worked at McGladrey LLP and am currently a Senior Associate, Assurance and Attestation Services. My husband Tyrell grew up in Millard, NE and was a 2009 graduate at the University of Nebraska Omaha with a Master of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Public Administration. He is currently employed as a Sergeant with the Fremont Police Department. We reside in Fremont with our black lab, Baxter.
