What is your favorite quote/saying?
You have brains in your head, feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, anywhere you choose.
What classes do you teach?
I teach weekly class sessions at the elementary with K-6th grade. The curriculum focuses on empathy, anger management, and problem solving. I talk to the jr. high and high school about self-esteem, problem solving, and self-respect. I also promote career guidance and college planning to high school classes. I also talk to students about future plans personnel learning plans, and scheduling high school classes.
Why did you decide to become a teacher?
I decided to become a teacher when I was in high school because I love working with kids. I took an introduction course for education in college and loved creating and teaching the lesson plans. I became a counselor to help kids figure out who they are, where they want to be, and where they are headed. I enjoy working with all students from Diller-Odell. Watching students grow, mature, and become active citizens is very rewarding.
I am also the National Honor Society sponsor and the sponsor of the class of 2011.
How long have you been teaching? At Diller-Odell?
I began my teaching career at Milligan Public Schools in 1998. I was hired by Diller-Odell in the spring of 2000. The year I began was the first year of the merger between Diller and Odell. I was hired as the Guidance Counselor in 2003.
What are your hobbies/interests?
My hobbies include shopping, reading, listening to music, and playing with my kids. Our family loves to camp and boat. I started gardening this past summer and really enjoyed the fresh veggies and family time!
Family?
My husband, Jamie, is a farmer. We have been blessed with three children. We have two sons, Caleb and Brennan. Both sons love helping their dad on the farm, boating, and reading. Our daughter, Jadyn, is a Daisy Scout who loves to do crafts and gymnastics.
