Red Ribbon Week was celebrated at Diller-Odell Schools during the week of 10-22 to 10-27. The DOSADA Core members work together to create a fun and valuable learning experience for K-12 students about the importance of being drug free. They traveled to the Elementary and presented activities, class discussions, a coloring contest, and Red Ribbons to each K-6 grade class.
At the High School Core Members decorated the school with hand made drug free posters, streamers, and ribbon. A Button Contest was held. Students spotted wearing a drug free button and ribbon were entered into a drawing for prizes. Drug free basketballs and footballs were passed out to the winning students.
Wednesday Brian Staurk spoke to the 9-12 students body about the dangers of drinking and driving. Mr. Staurk shared his own personal experience with he students. It was an informative talk with a deep impact on everyone.
The end of Red Ribbon Week was a Halloween Party at the High School. Students participated in a costume contest, good food, and games. The Grimm Reaper visited to teach students about the dangers of drinking and driving. The evening ended with movies. It was a scary fun time for all!
